A few hours ago, on March 4, 2020, a tajik blogger and political activist Mr. Muhammad Tagoev published on his official Facebook page that he was detained in Kazakhstan and threatened with extradition to Tajikistan.
Later, his post was deleted and all his messengers became out of reach.
The National Committee for the Release of Political Hostages and Prisoners of Tajikistan kindly requests the Kazakh Authorities to prevent the extradition of Mr. Muhammad Tagoev to Tajikistan, release him and give him the opportunity to leave Kazakhstan.
In case of extradition, Mr. Tagoev faces torture and a long term of imprisonment for his political activities. We kindly request international Human Rights Organizations, including Reporter Communities protecting the Human Right to freedom of opinion and expression, to kindly intervene into the matter and take all possible steps to prevent the extradition of Tajik blogger to the Authorities with targeted punitive measures in Tajikistan.
