“He always takes your financial support to use them for himself and his relatives’ interests”

The letter of the National Committee for the Release of Hostages and Prisoners of Tajikistan to:

— President of the USA Mr. Biden;

— President of the European Union Council Charles Michel;

— Secretary-General of the United Nation Antonio Guterres;

— King of the Netherlands, his excellency Willem Alexander;

— Prime Minister of Great Britain Rishi Sunack and speaker of the Parliament of the Great Britain Mr. Hoyle;

— Chancellor of Germany Mr/ Scholz and speaker of the Parliament of German Peter Tchentcher;

— civil society and human rights defenders of Britain and Germany.

The National Committee for the Release of Hostages and Prisoners of Tajikistan has a long practice in defending political prisoners of the country and is well informed the human rights, particularly of the dire condition of the political prisoners in Tajikistan, with great applies to you that the President of Tajikistan should be asked about the detentions, imprisonment, arbitrary murders, tortures and ill-treatment in detention centres, political prisoners’ conditions, the serious restrictions on freedom of speech, the threats to journalists and their arrests, the non-transparent elections, the persecution of international and national human rights defenders during his visit to your countries.

It should be noted that in the course of the last year, the government which has been led by Emomali Rahman for 31 years, killed more than 30 people in one day, massacred disarmed people in Gorno-Badakhshan region and detained hundreds of people, accused them of ungrounded charges not presenting them advocates and trailing the detainees behind the closed doors, imprisoned these people for long terms.

In the last year, 10 journalists have been detained, accused of fabricated charges, and jailed.

The National Committee for the Release of Hostages and Prisoners of Tajikistan is gravely concerned of the dire conditions of human rights, particularly prisoners in Tajikistan and applies to you, to the officials who will meet the dictator Emomali Rahman to pressure him to cease the killing, fraud and the kinship government in Tajikistan.

If the democratic states don’t require Emomali Rahman to inform them of the abovementioned subjects, it means that these states are also the partners of a such dictator, because Emomali Rahman misuses every meeting, handshaking, and even taking photos with the democratic states’ presidents and disappoints the people from the democracy, social justice and freedom of speech.

How will the people hope the democracy while only a person has been governing the state for 31 years and getting the million dollars support of yours and he uses this financial support only for his family’s interests along with the massacres and human rights violations?

It should be noted that Rahman has not implemented any proposals of democratic countries relating to human rights and also, will ignore your offers.

He always takes your financial support to use them for himself and his relatives’ interests.

We apply to you again that if you respect democratic values and human rights, please, impose sanctions against him.

The Committee for the Release of Hostages and Prisoners of Tajikistan considers it as the only method to pressure Rahman. In this way, maybe Rahman changes in a better way and tries to improve the human rights condition in Tajikistan.
